Prof. Nasser El-Gizawy, President of Benha University, announced that the university ranked 917th globally according to the Webometrics Ranking published in January 2026, among more than 30,000 universities around the world that participated in the ranking.
• In the Arab world, the university ranked 35th out of 1,366 Arab universities,
• In Africa, it ranked 27th out of 2,095 African universities.
• Locally, the university secured the 10th position among 83 public, private, and national universities that participated in the ranking.
Prof. Gehan Abdel-Hadi, Vice President of the University for postgraduate Studies and Research, indicated that this ranking relies on three indicators to measure university performance worldwide: openness, research excellence, and impact.
• The university achieved 667th globally in the research excellence indicator,
• 1,083rd globally in the openness indicator,
• 4,816th globally in the impact indicator.
The website Webometrics.org provides an independent ranking of universities based on the same known measurement indicators (impact, openness, and scientific excellence). However, it is published by a different entity not affiliated with the original Spanish source of the Webometrics ranking. It operates as an independent project despite using the same name, brand, and indicators, following the cessation of the original Spanish site Webometrics.info from publishing updates through its traditional platform during 2025.
