Minister of Higher Education Chairs the Supreme Council of Universities Meeting at Damietta University

The Minister of Higher Education confirmed:

The Supreme Council of Universities held its regular meeting today, Saturday, chaired by Prof. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, with the presence of Prof. Mostafa Rafea, Secretary of the Council, and esteemed council members, at the headquarters of Damietta University.
The council expressed gratitude to the family of Damietta University, led by Prof. Hamdan Rabea, President of the University, for hosting the meeting.
The Minister of Higher Education confirmed the readiness of the main coordination office at Cairo University to start its work, as well as the readiness of computer labs at public universities to assist students in applying through the electronic coordination website for admission to public universities and institutes, providing qualified guides to assist students throughout the coordination period.
The Minister also directed that maintenance work required for laboratories and university facilities be completed before the start of the new academic year 2025/2026 to ensure the quality of the educational process.
Prof. Ayman Ashour emphasized the need for universities to continue implementing sports, artistic, cultural, and social activities, and to support talented individuals during the summer vacation to utilize youth energies and foster a sense of belonging and loyalty.
He stressed the importance of universities continuing to enhance belonging among students and developing plans to intensify awareness campaigns to combat inappropriate ideas.
The Minister praised the achievements in international university rankings, including the inclusion of 20 Egyptian universities in the general edition of the QS World Ranking for 2025, the inclusion of 27 Egyptian universities among the best global universities for 2025–2026 in the U.S. News & World Report ranking, and the inclusion of 51 Egyptian universities in the Times Higher Education ranking for the impact of universities on achieving sustainable development goals for its 2025 edition. He urged universities to continue supporting researchers to increase scientific publication in prestigious scientific journals to enhance the ranking of Egyptian universities in major global rankings.
The council listened to a report on the most notable activities of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research during June, including Prof. Ayman Ashour attending the memorial lecture for Prof. Goran Matsut, Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia, in the Great Celebration Hall at Cairo University.
Prof. Ayman Ashour, on behalf of Prof. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, inaugurated the third edition of the International Conference on Climate and Environment, which was held under the auspices of the Council of Ministers and the Arab League, aimed at raising public awareness of climate and environmental issues, highlighting initiatives and projects that achieve sustainable development goals, in addition to launching new environmental and community initiatives.
The Minister also witnessed the signing of a cooperation protocol between the Faculty of Arts at Benha University and the Fund for Combating and Treating Addiction, to launch the first specialized bachelor's degree in the Middle East on "Addiction Psychology and Therapeutic Methods" at Benha University, prioritizing graduates of the bachelor's program for joining the Azima Centers affiliated with the fund. He also witnessed the signing of a cooperation protocol between the Leadership Preparation Institute and the Fund for Combating Addiction, to raise awareness of the dangers of substance abuse and addiction.
Prof. Ayman Ashour held a meeting with members of the High Committee for Selecting Deans of Private Higher Institutes, continuing the ministry's policy of developing higher institutes to improve the quality of the educational process.
In his field visits, Prof. Ayman Ashour inaugurated several educational and health projects at Benha University, including the opening of the surgical hospital development and the inauguration of the development project for the General Administration of Education and Students Affairs. He also laid the foundation stone for the construction of an auditorium building on the grounds of Benha University in Kafr Saad, in addition to laying the foundation stone for the construction of buildings for the Faculty of Applied Arts and the Faculty of Specific Education, with a total cost of 2.35 billion Egyptian pounds, along with inspecting the Digital Egypt Creativity Center at the university.
Prof. Ayman Ashour also visited the Arab Center for Research and Development in Benha, part of the "Arab" group, which aims to manufacture and localize technology for home and electronic appliances. The minister directed the possibility of studying a proposed academic program at Benha University of technology in partnership with the "Arab" group in response to labor market needs.
He inspected the site of the French University to monitor the progress of construction work at the new campus in Al-Shorouk City, listening to a detailed explanation about the implementation rates of ongoing constructions in all university buildings, and reviewing the progress rates of construction works for the university buildings.
The Minister witnessed the signing of a cooperation protocol between the Faculty of Arts at Benha University and the Fund for Combating and Treating Addiction, to launch the first specialized bachelor's degree in the Middle East on "Addiction Psychology and Therapeutic Methods" at Benha University, prioritizing graduates of the bachelor's program for joining the Azima Centers affiliated with the fund. The Minister held a meeting with the heads of public universities from which 12 private universities have emerged that have not yet started their studies, discussing the proposed cooperation protocols to be signed between public universities and the private universities emerging from them to enhance integration between both sides in various academic and administrative aspects, ensuring the provision of distinguished and advanced educational services. He directed the need to follow up on the completion of the preparations of the new private universities to start their studies during the new academic year.
Prof. Ayman Ashour laid the foundation stone for the Cancer Treatment Center at Fayoum University, and listened to a detailed presentation about the cancer treatment center affiliated with Fayoum University Hospitals, which is the first government medical facility specialized in cancer treatment in Fayoum Governorate.
He also inspected the headquarters of Fayoum National University to ensure the university's readiness to start studies in the academic year 2025/2026.
Prof. Adel Abdel Ghaffar, the media advisor and official spokesperson for the ministry, stated that the council approved the opening of registration for exams for diplomas and technical institutes for students holding a diploma from technical secondary schools (three-year system) and technical secondary schools (five-year system) and technical institutes (two years after secondary school) for admission to faculties (Commerce, Engineering, Law, Agriculture, Computers and Information) at public universities for the academic year 2025/2026 starting from August 1, 2025, according to the exam schedules announced on the official website of the Supreme Council of Universities for the relevant faculties through the following link:
